Debbie Ryan celebrates achievement as Mosaic Conservation Trainee
It's National Apprenticeship Week so thought to share my certificate from The Mosaic Restoration Company.
I had a wonderful time as their Mosaic Conservation Trainee over the course of a year. They welcomed me into their crew of experts, creatives, and talented craftspeople.
We worked on the conservation and restoration of mosaics across a range of inspiring heritage sites such as Manchester Town Hall, Shrewsbury Cathedral, and many other projects.
Supported by staff at Historic England and the Hamish Ogston Foundation, I got to work and learn with a range of craft apprentices on a summer school at Wentworth Woodhouse learning about lime plaster, gilding, stone carving, heritage bricklaying and more.
