About the Role
The Research Laboratories Manager is part of the SEMS Technical Management Team, charged with supporting research and teaching across a wide range of laboratory activities within the School. The role’s primary objectives are to lead, manage and develop a sub-team of four technicians based in SEMS research laboratories, whilst providing hands-on technical support and acting as School Health and Safety Coordinator.
About You
Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in relevant subject
Relevant professional registration or willingness to work towards this (e.g. TechIOSH, RSciTech etc)
Considerable understanding and experience of providing technical support in the laboratory environment
Good understanding of Health and safety legislation as it pertains to the education and laboratory environment, and experience in maintaining compliance amongst lab users
Experience of line management, supervision or other team leadership responsibilities
About the School/Department/Institute/Project
This post is within the School of Engineering and Materials Science (SEMS), a large School with circa 80 academics and around 50 postdoctoral research staff. There are around 1500 undergraduate and taught postgraduate students and 180 PhD students on the London campus. These are supported by an administrative and technical staff of circa 45. The staff and student body are international in make-up.
