Art, Design, & Innovation is a vibrant and established element of the University of Chester, providing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across a range of visual arts and design disciplines based at the Creative Campus Kingsway in Chester.
We require a flexible, organised and innovative individual to practically support the realisation of students ideas and practice within the Division of Art, Design & Innovation, with a particular focus in BA Photography.
Your duties will primarily include the day-to-day running, upkeep and maintenance of Photography facilities and resources. This includes the following areas: Photography Lighting Studios equipped with Esprit and Bowens flash units and associated peripherals; a Darkroom area (including the development of black and white and colour film); Digital C-type and Ink-jet Printing, and Epson and Imacon Scanning devices, alongside Bookmaking equipment. Importantly, the role involves the care, organisation and loan of digital and analogue camera formats and related equipment, film and paper supplies etc. housed in a dedicated Camera Store. You should also be competent in the use of Lightroom and Photoshop software which form part of the Adobe Creative Suite.
The Technician/Demonstrator collaborates closely with academic staff colleagues to enhance the student learning experience to foster a safe, innovative and sustainable environment for Photography and wider Art and Design teaching and learning on campus, as well as on location, e.g. Field Trips and Study Visits. You will also work with other Technical Support colleagues in the preparation and development of student and staff exhibition opportunities, which you will also potentially participate in.
We encourage applications from a diverse range of applicants.
