As we look back on 2025, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved together as a technical community. This year has been about investing in people, strengthening skills, and creating meaningful opportunities for development and connection across our network.
Throughout the year, we delivered 44 training courses to over 330 technicians, supporting professional growth at every career stage. From early-career technicians to experienced technical leaders, our programmes and courses were designed to build confidence, enhance expertise, and support progression within technical roles.
In 2025, we were excited to launch two brand-new courses tailored specifically to the needs of technical professionals:
Technical Services Career and Promotion Pathways - see the course page here
This course was developed to help technicians better understand career structures, progression routes, and promotion processes within technical services. It offers practical guidance for navigating career conversations and planning next steps with confidence.
Introduction to University Planning for Technical Leads - see the course page here
Designed for those stepping into or already working in leadership roles, this course supports technical leads in understanding university planning processes and aligning technical services with institutional priorities.
These new additions reflect our ongoing commitment to providing relevant, practical learning that responds directly to the challenges and opportunities faced by technical staff.
Alongside our training offer, we introduced new development opportunities exclusively for our members. In 2025, members were able to access:
These personalised sessions have allowed technicians to reflect on their goals, explore career options, and develop strategies for growth with dedicated support. We’ve been delighted to see members using this time to build confidence, prepare for progression, and navigate change.
Community connection remained a key focus throughout the year. In 2025, we welcomed over 200 technical staff to our online and in-person events, creating spaces to share knowledge, experiences, and best practice.
We also attended over 30 technical events and showcases, where we had the privilege of celebrating technical excellence and innovation across the sector. These events continue to highlight the vital contribution technical staff make to education, research, and student experience.
Looking ahead, we’re excited to build on this momentum and support even more technical events across our network in 2026.
This year, we also introduced free technical job advertising for HEaTED members. This initiative is designed to help organisations reach skilled technical professionals while supporting members to access new opportunities across the sector.

We’re starting 2026 strong with a wide range of upcoming courses designed to support technical professionals at every stage of their career.
