HEaTED Creative Practitioners Network
The HEaTED Creative Practitioners Network was developed because it was noticed that those within the creative industries often felt excluded, underrepresented and had little to no opportunities for professional registration. We wanted to create a supportive network, run by technicians that caters to all specialties within the arts.
We aim to encourage and help develop specialist professional registration, highlight the work and achievements of creative technicians, promote the role of the arts within STEAM and encourage networking between creative technicians.
Because the group is run by technicians within the arts, members understand and relate to the highs and lows of a career in these industries. That’s what makes the HCPN a bit different!
We organise events and source CPD opportunities for arts-based technicians. This is important to us as the technical industries often feel very science based- we want to encourage and support others like us.
We’re always excited to meet new members potentially interested in joining our working group. We meet once a month for an hour online. This is where our ideas and plans are made so if you feel as strongly as we do about supporting and showcasing creative technicians, we’d love to hear from you!
Current members
Our network of members is ever-expanding, and we welcome technical staff from all specialties within the arts.
Currently we have members from the following organisations: University of York, University of Reading, Falmouth University, University of Bedfordshire, The University of Edinburgh, NUI Galway, University of Lincoln, University of Chester, Coventry University, University of Plymouth, University of Southampton, Oxford Brookes University, Manchester Metropolitan University, The University of Sheffield, University of Hertfordshire, University of East Anglia, University of Huddersfield and Institute of Science and Technology (IST).
